Banna_strand.jpg

Banna Beach, Co. Kerry

Stretching from Ballyheigue Beach in the north to Barrow Beach in the south, Banna Strand boasts an extensive network of sand dunes which is a designated Special Area of Conservation (SAC). It is also well known as the infamous landing of arms by the executed Sir Roger Casement in the lead up to the 1916 Easter Rising.

Walk the length of the stunning strand or immerse yourself in the beach's role in Irish history. This beach is also of major ecological interest due to both its range of habitats and wildfowl.
